August 31, 2015 A Week Of Miracles

We had a really awesome week this week :) we were able to see a lot of miracles and blessings that came from the hand of the Lord :) We are super happy because we were able to fulfill a lot of our weekly goals :) We were able to find 5 new investigators this week, put three baptismal dates and these three investigators came to church on sunday :) we had 8 lessons with members present (and the members were actually edifying haha because sometimes we just count the inactive husband as a member present and well, that isn´t all that edifying right?) but yeah, that was pretty awesome :) we also had two less actives that came to church and one of them hadn´t come for YEARS and to be perfectly honest, i doubted that she would show up....and the best part is that she actually was the one who went in front and gave the opening prayer in sacrament meeting so, it was pretty cool :) my comp and i were super surprised haha.

Oh yeah, well that is basically what happened this week in regards to miracles :) but i just want to apologize because i have officially run out of time since we have to go do one more thing before p-day is up and we only have 30 minutes to do it.... but i want to share one more thing with yáll :) one day, saturday to be exact, we were in a pueblo (small "town") called monte chiquito or "little mountain" and we were walking back from a few visits (we started leaving the town) and i was walking with hermana Marisa and suddenly she yells "una vivora!!" (a snake!!) and she totally jumped and like, ran into the side of me and we both went to one side. So we saw a snake in the road, but don´t worry, it´s like a tiny snake, but it´s head got run over by a bike and there was a little blood on the road next to his head. but it was weird because his body was totally still wiggling around even though he was dead.... but kyeah, so after we knew for sure for sure that he was d3ead, i picked him up and put him in a bottle of alcohol with clavo (a mix that helps repell mosquitos that i always carry with me) so that he would be preserved and i actually have him in the bottle on my desk in the house haha :) he looks pretty cool :) and the kids kept telling me that i was so lucky that i have a pet snake and all that haha :) maybe next week i will send you a pic of him ;)

Well, that is about all the time i have but i love you all and i just want to challenge you to keep reading the book of mormon each day and to read it as early in the morning as is possible for each one of you because i know that we are more capable to understand the scriptures and the will of God for us when we study diligently in the early hours of the morning. There is a really good talk in the Liahona of June or July i think that talks about sleep hours and study schedule and all that....sorry for the lame explanation haha but i really gotta go. I just want to say that i know that the church is true and that miracles happen to us on a daily basis, and more when we obey the commandments with EXACTNESS. I love you all and i hope that you have a fantastic week!!

August 24, 2015 I'm Officially a Grandmother! :)

My title explains why my back has been hurting so bad lately.... ;) and my knees...  haha. ;) dang...I can´t imagine how I am going to feel when I´m seventy....

But anyway, I am officially a grandmother because my daughter is now training!!! I am so proud of her!!! When I got to the Stake Center in Puebla (where we always have our changes meetings for transfers) she was there in the door way and she told me that she was going to train and I said "are you serious!?" and I kind of squealed a little and I hugged her super tight!! She is going to be absolutely amazing!!! She came to the field super prepared and I know that her daughter is going to love her training :) it is going to be awesome! We still have to take the generation photo haha but don´t worry, it´s a comin! next week...maybe....but for sure this in this month and a half haha ;)

Also, this week I put the picture of the baptism and also of my new companion :) Her name is Sister Guadarrama :) She is from the state of Mexico :) it´s really really close to Puebla :) but it isn´t D.F. :)

Well, something cool happened this week. I was in the kitchen in the morning (not today...i don´t remember which day it was but anyway...) i saw something out of the corner of my eye that was like wiggling on the ground and when i looked at it full on, i saw that it was a little tiny lizard!!!! my comp picked it up and we took pics or it and then put it in a plant outside of our house :) But yeah, I don´t even know how it got inside! And it was super teeny tiny haha. it was cute :) but just because it was small :)

Armando (our recent convert) is getting excited to start going to the temple to see how it is and to do baptisms for the dead and we are getting him excited to receive the priesthood :) he is super awesome! :) We visited him like three days this week. He is progressing and changing a lot :)

Heber came to church this week and we are going to go to his house everyday this week to read the Book of Mormon with him and we are going to put a baptismal date with him today so that we can help him on his way to obtaining eternal salvation :) He tells us that he really wants to be baptized, so it won´t be a problem that he accepts the date, we just want him to have a testimony before he is baptized...and that is the hardest part.

This week we found two new investigators named Rubí and Armando (yep, that´s right, another Armando haha). They still aren´t married but they are working on it so that Rubí can get baptized. She has been coming to our ward for like ten years and when I came here I totally thought she was a member haha...but then in the fifth week of the last transfer,I found out that she was an investigator!!! SO I was pretty much blown away by that haha :) we are planning on putting a baptismal date with her for september. We are also hoping that her husband will become more interested in learning more about the gospel and that he will accept a baptismal date as well :) (all their kids are baptized and they all want to serve missions :) ) So yeah, they are like the miracle that we had this week! :) They only problem is that they aren´t married and that....they don´t live in the ward boundaries....haha so we need permission to teach them.... but we are hoping that we will be able to teach them!

Well, that is about all the time I have for this week but I just want you all to know that I love you all and that I hope you have a great week! Keep your eyes and ears open for any miracles that happen this week because I can assure you that you have at least one happen everyday, we just have to learn to recognize them :)

August 17, 2015 Investigators, Baptism and Pressing Forward

Well, this week was pretty great because we were able to find or have four new investigators :) and one of them seems to be interested in learning more and we are hoping that he will progress...his name is Enrique and he is a friend of our mission leader`s assistant (Aaron) and well, Enrique told aaron that he basically wanted to know what he had to do to become mormon. so yeah, we were pretty excited when we heard that :) so the next time we go to visit him we will invite him to be baptized :)

We also have another investigator who is assisting with Christians and she straight up asked us if she was in the right or in the wrong and we didn`t straightly tell her that she was in the wrong but we testified that we know that we are in the only true church here on the earth and we shared the story about Joseph Smith because he passed through the same thing that she is passing through (questioning if she is in the right church or not). so yeah it was a pretty good week as far as that goes.

We also had a baptism this weekend :) Our convert`s name is Armando and his wife actually was baptized like 6 or 7 months ago :) I will send the pictures next week because this cyber is really slow with loading pics so....yeah you will have to wait to see them :) I will also send the pics of my new companion because we are having transfers tomorrow. My companion is going home because she has finished her mission and I am also leaving the area. haha no just kidding! I actually get to stay in my area this time! Wahoo! I am really happy :) I like it here :) despite all the dust and the heat.... but yeah, I will send pics of the baptism and my new companion :)

Sorry, I don`t have a lot of time so that is why I am not really writing all that well (with caps and paragraphs and all that haha) but I love all of you guys and I hope that you have a great week! I know that this is the true church and that we can only be saved through our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, if we act according to our faith and if we repent on a daily basis. I know that we are a world and a church full of imperfect people but I know that we are a people who keep pressing forward and who are willing to let the atonement of Christ change us.

Keep reading the scriptures and praying daily and make it a goal to go to the temple as often as you can! Also, repent on a daily basis, even over the small sins or transgressions that you make, so that you can go little by little paying off the debt that you have with the Lord. Your life will be easier and happier and less stressful if you keep up on the small things daily :) Love you all!

Love,

August 10, 2015 Enedina, Edgar and The Most Important Things

Hello everyone! I hope all is well with all of you and that you had a fantastic week :) This week we found a new investigator who seems really nice but she has a problem...well a few actually hha. The first is that she isn´t married :/ the other is that she takes care of her mom on the weekends and so she isn´t here....that means she can´t go to church with us on Sundays....but, we have another appointment with her this week and we are hoping to convince her of the truth of the gospel and the importance of assisting church each Sunday.

Armando and Heber came to church yesterday!!! Heber doesn´t have his baptismal date anymore because we feel like he still has a few doubts and that he isn´t quite strong enough in his own testimony so we are going to wait with him a little bit longer. Armando is going to have his interview tomorrow for his baptism! :) We passed by yesterday to see him but he wasn´t home....but we are going to pass by today so that we can review what the other missionaries had taught him before and the things that he needs to know for his interview so that he feels comfortable. Please keep him in your prayers so that he can become a very firm and strong member and that he can keep learning and progressing :)

Yesterday we had a really great experience :) two young men (of 16 years of age) accompanied us to visit Armando but when we got to the house he wasn´t there haha so we just walked down a few houses and knocked on the door of another investigator that lives on the same street (her name is Enedina). She happened to be home and invited us in and so we entered haha ;) and we had an amazing lesson with her! We were able to feel the spirit while we were with her and the two young men shared their testimonies and scriptures and even invited her to pray to know if what we taught her was true and invited her to come to church with us! They are amazing :)

One of the young men said two things that really stuck out to me, that I liked a lot :) His name is Edgar :) he´s really cool. Here are the two things that I learned from him that I really liked! In fact, he is now diary famous cuz I wrote all about it in my journal when we got home yesterday haha :)

He was explaining to the investigator that sometimes we feel like arrows flung into the air randomly and that we don´t have any direction. He said that God and the gospel give us the direction that we need. I added on to it a little and explained that God wants us to hit the bull´s eye of the target because that is where He is. The gospel of Christ guides and directs us to hit that perfect spot so that we aren´t like lost arrows floating in mid air just waiting to crash into a tree or some other object, but that we are flying with a guided and directed purpose. But yeah, it was a really great analogy. :)

The other thing that I loved was that he asked very specific questions. While we were explaining about what we do at church, he asked Enedina, "If you received a phone call, like you did just now (because she went to answer the phone like 5 minutes before), and they told you that tomorrow you were going to die, what would you do in the last few hours of your life?" And at first I was thinking, aw man, he´s going to get all off topic with that question. Why did he ask it? But i didn´t say anything, I just waited and watched Enedina´s face. We waited and the Enedina answered and said that she would call her loved ones and be with the ones that lived close and that she would settle some temporal things (like payments or her will etc...). He then said that he had thought about this before as well and had come to the same conclusion; that he would be with his family and probably do some of the things that he had always wanted to do but then he said, "Jesus knew that He was going to die before He actually did and I wondered if I would have done the same thing that He did. He didn´t go say goodbye to His mother or anything like that. What He did was sit down to dinner, the last supper, and He prepared and blessed bread and wine (water) to share with His apostles so that they would/might always remember Him. That is what He did in His last moments..." and he then went on to explain a little bit more about the Sacrament and why it is so important. What the!? yeah, i was pretty much blown away by this kid! When I was his age, I did not think like that haha. I still hadn´t thought of it that way until he just explained it yesterday! I still am like, amazed at the Spirit and power that this young man brought into the lesson and the things that he taught me that night (yesterday). It was amazing! :) But yeah, the other young man that went with us was also very incredible and he is actually a recent convert :) He is the convert of one of the sisters that was in my district in the MTC (I don´t know if you remember Sister Petersen, but it´s her convert :) ) he shared his testimony as well and they both just spoke with such power and sincerity, I loved it! Enedina cried during the lesson :) Edgar is going to accompany us agai ntonight! I´m excited :)

Well, those were like the main highlights of this week :) oh yeah, we also had interviews with President and they were pretty great :) He is awesome and his wife too :) I love them :)

I hope that you enjoyed the letter this week and that you all can keep searching out the light that God has placed in each of your lives through personal and family prayer, personal and family scripture study and regular assistance to church each Sunday. I also hope and expect that all of you that are home are actively participating in missionary work and in your family home evenings :) By doing all these small and simple things, great blessings will enter your lives and you will be able to feel the great love that our Father in Heaven has for each one of you :) I love you all and hope that you have an amazing week!

Love always,
Hermana Walker
