September 28, 2015 Transfers - Guess Who's Leaving?

Hello everyone!! I hope you had a fantastic week last week and that you are all pumed for General Conference!! :) I hope I don´t have to watch it in Spanish....I don´t want to miss a single thing!! But if I have to watch it in Spanish... well...ni modo right? It is going to be a great conference :) and I am excited to see who the new apostoles are going to be. It is so sad and so crazy that we have lost three this year....

Alright well, first of all, I was really surprised when we got the call about transfers yesterday night because I was kind of expecting to leave right?I don´t have a ton of time here but I´ve been here for three months and my comp just got here last transfer so we all thought she was gonna stay... I totally didn´t expect that Sister Guadarrama would be leaving haha but, yeah, I think it pretty much caught us all by surprise. So next Monday, a new face will appear here and will join the "wall" of floating missionary faces on the blog my mom has haha.

This week was really rough in regards to finding new investigators....we didn´t find a single one. But we had a lot of lessons with members present and lessons with less active members and recient converts so that was all good. We also put a baptismal date this week with one of our investigators named Dulce. She is planning on being baptized on the 17th of October!! We are all super excited and we had two really spiritual lessons with her this week :) The most recent was the best because five of the six of us present, cried haha. It was beautiful :)

One of our investigators (apart from Dulce) came to church this sunday and I was totally surprised because she has only come one other time in my three months here, and she came after sacrament meeting was over... but this time she came with her less active husband and their two little kids and they stayed the whole time and seem to be really getting more and more excited in regards to the church so we are also really excited about that :)

I am excited for this new week and the opportunity to work even harder to be able to find new investigators....we desperately need them and they desperately need us, even if they don´t know it yet ;)

This week I also had a really cool experience with a scripture that really helped me :) I was able to feel the love of the Lord for me and I was able to be reminded that the Lord truly does answer prayers and that He knows each one us perfectly.

I hope that you all have a great week this week and that you keep reading the Book of Mormon daily because it is the word of God and in that book we will find the answers that we need, regardless of our age or circumstance. It is a great evidence of the love of God for each one of His children :)

I love you all! Have an amazing week :)

Love,

September 21, 2015 Following Promptings

Oh man, can I just say that this week was SUPER stressful....It´s a REALLY long story as well haha....so I will just share the good things and we will kind of just forget all the stress alright? :) but anyway, so, we totally had a baptism this week :) well, technically it was two since Rubí and her husband Armando were baptized this last Wednesday :) It was really beautiful :) But the baptism was actually one of the most stressful things that happened to me this week haha....one of the things that was most stressful for me was that Aaron was supposed to bring me his sister´s violin so that I could practice the song that we were going to play for the special musical number...and he had four opportunities to get it to me and he didn´t end up getting it to me until like, RIGHT when we were supposed to be starting the program...so I was all stressed trying to tune the violin, and a part from that, it wasn´t even full-size haha so....it was a mess. Also I was stressed because I haven´t played the violin for basically like two years now haha so....yeah you can just imagine how I was feeling.Oh yeah, and the strings kept slipping and it just wouldn´t stay tuned....so after all that I ended up just putting it away and I had to sing a song that I had never sung in spanish....but it all ended well. It was a miracle! :)

I ended up singing "Walk tall your a daughter" but in spanish haha :) and it was a true miracle because, like, we had to change the program a tiny bit and I just announced that we had to change the song and that we had problems with the violin and that we were changing the song haha and I explained that even though it was talking about a daughter of God, it also still applied to all the men there as well haha :P But the best part was after Rubí and Armando were baptized because they went up front and bore their testimonies and Rubí said "This song that I just barely heard (the one I sang) reminded me of when I first came to know the church and I KNEW that I was a daughter of God and that He loves me...." and yeah, she said other things that were super amazing :) but, that part of her testimony was a testimony builder for me because, I had a prompting to print off the sheet music of another song that we ended up singing instead that ended up helping her remember when she realized that she truly was a beloved daughter of God. It was really awesome! And it made all the stress totally worth it haha :)

That is about all the time I have this week...sorry! But I love you guys all and I know that this is the true church and that God answers prayers and His plans are perfect and always end up being better than the plans that we have for ourselves. We just need to be able to let Him take the wheel and help us along and we need to truly trust in Him...and try not to stress ourselves out too much...ehem....Hermana Walker..... yeah, I learned my lesson! haha but yeah, I know that we have the truth and we are so blessed for it! Have a great week!

Love,
Hermana Walker :)

PS We also had our noche mexicana this last week....like the week before the baptism :)

September 14, 2015 Armando and Rubi

Hola hola! ¿Cómo están todos? Espero que estan bien :)

Alrighty well, this week is going to be awesome because we are going to have two baptisms this week! On Wednesday Armando and his wife Rubí are going to enter the waters of baptism and make a sacred and lasting covenant with their Father in Heaven :) We are so happy and so excited for them! They are amazing! They are the investigators that just got married last tuesday :) I don`t remember if I told you guys that they were going to get married but I think I did....I hope so anyway haha. If not, well, now you know! ;) so yeah, they got married last week and this week they are going to be baptized :) I am going to play the violin in their baptism haha but wish me luck because it`s been a while since I`ve picked one up....

This week we went and contacted a reference that we received from the Stake. They gave all the missionaries a list of young men and young women that went to EFY and our president told us that these young people were very special and they just had a week of super spiritual experiences and so they just need to go to church one time before being baptized...um....SUPER awesome right!? Yeah, I know! We were pumped!!! So we went and contacted her and all that right and she totally is super nice and we set up an appointment over the phone and the day of the appointment and she let us right in :) so...I asked her about EFY and how it went and all that and guess what she told me...??? That she couldn`t go!!! Can you believe that!? Yeah, so that was a little sad for me.... but it`s ok, because she is super cute and she wants to learn about the gospel and when we talked about baptism and invited her to be baptized when she came to know that these things were true, she told us yes :) so that was cool :) we are going to see her this week and put a baptismal date with her for the 10th of october :) we are really hoping that she will accept and that her parents will give her permission (she`s 17 years old so...we need the parents`permission...).

But yeah, this last week was really good and this week is going to be even better!

I know that this is the true and restored gospel of the Savior Jesus Christ here on the earth and that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God who was called to restore this gospel so that we would be able to enjoy the fullness of God´s love in our days. I know that the Book of Mormon is ture and that it isthe word of God and that we truly can grow closer to God by reading it`s pages and living it`s teachings. I love this gospel and this work that I am in and I would not trade it for anything.

Have a great week! Love you all!

Love,
Hermana Walker

P.D. Remind me to tell you of the sad story that happened to us with a rude investigator....

September 7, 2015 The Mission - A Miracle Machine!

Hello again! How have you all been? I hope all has been well :)

Well, this week was full of miracles :) (like always right? The mission is just a miracle machine!!) But anyway, we were able to find 5 new people again this week so that was really awesome :) the only really sad part is that we didn´t have any investigators come to church this week... but we have two baptismal dates that are basically signed and sealed and another one that we still have to work on a bit because we don´t know if we need to post-pone it a little more or whatever but yeah we are super excited because one of our investigators (well, two of them) are getting married tomorrow!! :) and they are preparing to be baptized on the 19th of this month :) They actually asked us if they could get baptized before their date haha and I said "Of course you can!!" I was super excited right? :) Well, we have an appointment with them tonight and we are going to talk about their date and all that stuff and get it all worked out but i think that Armando (a different one) has a little bit of a hard time with the word of wisdom (for the coffee part) so..if he has drinken (drunken? how would that be written..?) in this last week he still has to wait..but we will see what happens tonight and next week I will feel you in on the details.

Sorry, I don´t have a ton of time to write haha like always but I just wanted to talk about Rubí and Armando a bit :) also, one of our investigators that has NEVER come to church came this week :) but she came really late and missed the whole sacrament meeting...she just came for the classes but, SHE CAME and her husband also came who has been inactive for forever! So we were super happy about that and I was actually like, in shock when I saw that Juan Carlos (the less active) walked in to the classroom.... it was crazy!

We had a super beautiful class on sunday in relief society and if I ever have to teach a lesson about brotherly love or service sometime in the future....I am gonna steal this idea because it was amazing :) we were all crying haha, even I was crying and I don´t even hardly know anyone here in this ward!! (like, well enough to feel immense love for them and to cry haha) only the Spirit can make this happen :)

Well, I have to go because my comp and i still haven´t eaten today haha and P-day is almost up so we gotta hurry if we don´t want to starve ;)

I know that the church is true and that God is our loving Heavenly Father who always sends us tender mercies to help us along this road we are traveling. I know that He knows each one of us individually and that He knows the things that we pass through. I know He gives us challenges to help us grow and develop so that we can truly reach our full potential. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that it was translated through Joseph Smith who was and is a man called of God. I love this gospel and the opportunity that I have to be here serving my Heavenly Father and helping Him create a larger and more powerful kingdom here on the earth.

I love you all and hope that you have a fantastic week!
